Abstract An information processing apparatus including: a detection section configured to detect the position of an object touching a touch-sensitive part as a touched position; a recognition section configured to recognize the type of a finger touching the touch-sensitive part based on the touched position and on an image of the touch-sensitive part; a search section configured to search through a function table defining correspondences between the touched position of at least one finger and the type thereof on the one hand and a function assigned to the combination of the touched position and the type of the finger on the other hand, the search section searching the function table for the function corresponding to the touched position detected by the detection section and to the finger type detected by the recognition section; and an execution section configured to execute the function detected through the search by the search section.
