Abstract An apparatus and to a method for producing a three-dimensional object built up from at least one material layer by selective solidification of at least one powder raw material applied successively in raw material tracks to a build platform via an application unit of the apparatus. In this case, the apparatus for solidifying the raw material via energy input from a beam has an irradiation unit forming a build group together with the application unit, wherein the irradiation unit having a contiguous group of irradiation elements is rotatably mounted on the application unit.
