Abstract A rail intrusion detection system is disposed beside a train rail and/or roadside for detecting a control area. The system includes a radar detection module, a thermal image detection module, an image detection, and a fusion analysis module that are coupled with each other. The radar detection module, the thermal image detection module, and the image detection module carries out the detection on the control area. When an object intrudes the control area, the radar detection module outputs a radar information corresponding to the intruding object. The thermal image detection module outputs a thermal image information corresponding to the intruding object. The image detection module outputs an image information corresponding to the intruding object. The fusion analysis module carries out an analysis to obtain a fusion information according to the information above.
