Abstract The present invention provides an adapter device for lamp tubes, which, under the condition of not modifying any structure or component of an inductive lamp socket specific for a T8 lamp tube, with the addition of the adapter device, allows a T5 lamp tube to be installed on the T8 lamp socket. The features include a first adapter, a second adapter and a short-circuiting device. The two adapters are connected respectively between the two input terminals of a T5 lamp tube and a T8 lamp socket. A circuit board is included in the first adapter for the disposition of a bridge rectifier, a power-factor-correction circuit as well as high frequency and DC common ground and common loop etc. The second adapter only functions for modification of pin distance on the opposite end of the lamp tube. The short-circuiting device is used to short the starter of the T8 lamp socket, enabling the electric current inputted by the power source to enter the two ends of the T5 lamp tube though the circuit of the first adapter and the second adapter so as to light up the T5 lamp tube. Hence, a T8 lamp socket is allowed to install a T5 lamp tube and this helps reducing power consumption, enhancing the illumination and achieving the practical improvement to meet the environmental-friendly requirements.
