The retardation change value RS of the polarizing plate having a retardation layer is 2.0 or less, the retardation change value RS being the slope of a fitted straight line of the value of in-plane retardation Re(550) of the polarizing plate having a retardation layer as measured under a tension of 0 kg, 0.5 kg, 1 kg, 1.5 kg, and 2 kg.
