The present invention provides a zirconium element-containing resin composition capable of achieving both high transparency and high refractive index. The zirconium element-containing resin composition according to the present invention contains a zirconium element-containing metal oxide (A), a dispersant (B), and a polymerizable resin (C), and is characterized in that the mean particle diameter of the zirconium element-containing metal oxide (A) as measured by dynamic light scattering is 20 nm or less, the dispersant (B) contains a compound represented by formula (1) and optionally contains a silane coupling agent, and the content proportion of the silane coupling agent is less than 30 parts by mass with respect to a total of 100 parts by mass of the silane coupling agent and the compound represented by formula (1).
