A touch panel defines a touch area and a border area surrounding the touch area. The touch panel includes a substrate, a plurality of first electrodes and a plurality of second electrodes arranged on the substrate and located in the touch area, a plurality of traces arranged on the substrate and located in the border area. Each trace is electrically connected to a first electrode or a second electrode. The traces are metal traces and covered by a black matrix layer, and the metal traces are patterned by using the black matrix layer as a mask. The invention also provides a manufacturing method of the touch panel. The invention can reduce an area of the border area of the touch panel and simplify the existing manufacturing process.
