Summary:The present disclosure provides a system for treating simultaneously wastewater containing organic and inorganic contaminants. The system includes an anaerobic tank and a membrane distillation (MD) apparatus. The anaerobic tank is seeded thermophilic anaerobic bacteria applied for degrading the organic contaminants in the wastewater between 30 DEG C and 90 DEG C wherein the redox potential of the wastewater in the anaerobic tank is between 0 mV and -600 mV. The membrane distillation apparatus is installed for distilling the wastewater from the anaerobic tank and allowing at least a portion of the wastewater for passing through hydrophobic pores of the membrane distillation apparatus in a vapor form so as to separate the inorganic contaminants in the wastewater.
