Summary:Disclosed is a hair treatment composition which comprises the following components (a) and (b): (a) a compound represented by general formula (1) and having two or three amino acid residues or a salt of the compound [in the formula, X represents a bivalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms which may be substituted by a hydroxy group, or a specific amino acid residue; Y represents a specific amino acid residue or a bivalent group represented by chemical formula (2) [in the formula, -* represents a bond capable of binding to an adjacent carbonyl group or oxygen atom]; R represents a hydrogen atom, or a univalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms which may be substituted by a hydroxy group; and m and n independently represent a number of 0 or 1, provided that X is not an amino acid residue when both m and n represent 1 simultaneously; and (b) an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 8 or less carbon atoms or a salt thereof.
