Abstract An apparatus and method for implementing a personal work station by fingerprint authentication is disclosed. A storage unit stores the personal data and the auto-execution program. The auto-execution program executes automatically and authenticates the fingerprint image captured by the fingerprint capture unit when the apparatus connects to a personal computer. The personal data is loaded into the computer when the fingerprint image is authenticated successfully. The personal computer is recovered to the original environment when the apparatus is removed from the personal computer.
