Abstract | Disclosed is a device for polishing an end face of an optic fiber, which retains an optic fiber to be ground, comprising a body defining a retaining slot; a retention rod received in the retaining slot; a support fixed to an upper end of the retention rod; a plurality of clamps mounted to the body, a ferrule coupled to each clamp; a lower end of the retention rod forming a jointing section with an outward-projecting outer diameter which prevents the retention rod from engaging the retention slot except the jointing section; the retention slot being recessed below the body to allow a contact surface between the lower end of the retention rod and the retention slot to be substantially at the same plane as the contact surface between the ground end of the optic fiber and the polishing face thereby providing the ground end faces of a batch to be of the same ground shape and thus enhancing efficiency and quality of polishing operation. |
