Abstract FIELD: applied chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: the invention is dealt with the field of applied chemistry, in particular, with generation of gases with the low temperature. The method includes the following stages: generation of a gas at decomposition of a porous gas-permeable solid body made out of a generating material at the first stage; a generation of neutralizing compounds by decomposition of the solid material at the second stage containing a gas-generating solid substance and a neutralizing agent; neutralization of the formed reaction products from the first stage as a result of reaction with the neutralizing agent; maintaining of a time and-or a space interval between the front of decomposition of the first stage and the front of decomposition of the second stage. The invention also offers a gas generator for generation of gases, preferably nitrogen, with a low temperature. The technical result achievable at realization of the given technology consists in provision of efficient generation of a gaseous nitrogen without decrease of productivity and operational parameters of the gas generator. ^ EFFECT: the invention ensures efficient generation of a gaseous nitrogen without decrease of productivity and operational parameters of the gas generator. ^ 14 cl
