Described is the use of nopal Opuntia ficus-indica mucilage combined with moisturizing agents of the conventional type for producing an enhanced moisturizing effect compared to the effect produced by said nopal mucilage and moisturizing agent by themselves, where said composition is used for the preparation of cosmetic and/or dermatological compositions topically administered to the user’s skin for increasing moisturizing. La presente invención se refiere al uso del mucílago de nopal "Opuntia ficus-indica" en combinación con agentes humectantes de tipo convencional útil en la preparación de composiciones cosméticas para incrementar el efecto humectante en la piel de un usuario, en donde los agentes humectantes de tipo convencional son glicerina y sorbitol.
