A system and method for use in authenticating one or both of a container (101) and a product (112) packaged therein. The method comprises obtaining images of each of two codes (102, 104) carried by a container system (100) comprising the container. The method further comprises determining, for each image, a contrast ratio between one or more elements of the code in the image and the background of the code. The method still further comprises determining the authenticity of one or both of the container and the product packaged therein based at least in part on the contrast ratios for each image, and therefore, each code. Un sistema y método para uso en la autenticación de uno o ambos de un contenedor (101) y un producto (112) empacado en el mismo; el método comprende obtener imágenes de cada uno de los dos códigos (102, 104) llevados por un sistema de contenedor (100) que comprende el contenedor; el método además comprende determinar, para cada imagen, una relación de contraste entre uno o más elementos del código en la imagen y el fondo del código, el método además comprende determinar la autenticidad de uno o ambos del contenedor y el producto ahí empacado con base al menos en parte en las relaciones de contraste para cada imagen, y por lo tanto, cada código.
