Summary:The present invention refers to a process for the biodegradation of high concentrations of sulfates and degradation of organochlorine compounds, mainly trichloroethylene (TCE) to ethylene using a marine sediment of hydrothermal vents as inoculum by means of a reactor under sulfate reducing conditions, for being implemented in a train of treatments for an effluent that contains chlorinated compounds, mainly trichoroethylene (TCE). Moreover, the invention provides a process for reducing the high concentrations of sulfate and degrading organochlorine compounds, mainly TCE, which reduces the time of biodegradation of TCE and provides a high removal of polluting compounds.
