Abstract A method for evaluating the ground safety according to an embodiment of the present disclosure comprises the steps of: transmitting an input signal to an optical cable in an underground power cable; receiving a return signal through the optical cable; and evaluating the safety of the ground where the underground power cable is buried based on the waveform of the return signal. In the ground safety evaluation system including an underground power cable, a signal transmitting and receiving module, and a processor according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the signal transmitting and receiving module may transmit an input signal to an optical cable in the underground power cable and receive a return signal through the optical cable, and the processor may evaluate the safety of the ground where the underground power cable is buried based on the waveform of the return signal. According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, there is an advantage which there are no temporal or spatial constraints as an inspector does not need to visit the site to evaluate ground safety, so the safety of the ground can be measured in real time at any time. Additionally, since ground safety analysis is possible based on digital signals, the ground condition can be analyzed from various angles. In addition, since signals are transmitted and received using optical cables in pre-installed underground cables, there is no need to install new cables to apply the invention.
