Abstract The present invention relates to a variant of 7 beta-hydroxysteroid (7-beta-HSDH) derived from a Ruminococcus gnavus strain which enhances a conversion rate of 7-keto lithocholic acid (7-Keto-LCA) to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and a method for producing UDCA using the same. According to the present invention, the conversion efficiency of 7-Keto-LCA to UDCA is improved by variant production through enzyme improvement and development of recombinant protein production. Therefore, the variant and the method for producing UDCA using the same can be widely used to improve UDCA biosynthesis and biosynthetic efficiency. Provided is a 7-beta-HSDH variant containing an amino acid sequence mutation of 7-beta-HSDH derived from a Ruminococcus gnavus strain. 7-Keto-LCA (7-keto Lithocholic Acid)에서 우르소데옥시콜산 (ursodeoxycholic acid; UDCA)으로의 전환율을 증진시키는 루미노코쿠스 나버스(Ruminococcus gnavus) 균주 유래 7-beta-HSDH (7 beta-hydroxysteroid)의 변이체 및 이를 이용한 우르소데옥시콜산 생산방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에서는 효소 개량을 통한 변이체 제조 및 재조합 단백질 생산 개발을 통해 7-Keto-LCA의 UDCA 전환 효율을 증진시킨 바, UDCA 생합성 및 생합성 효율 증진을 위해 널리 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
