Abstract The present invention relates to a system and a method for implementing a transport layer security (TLS) routing agent in an Internet protocol exchange (IPX) network for 5G core roaming. According to the present invention, transmission control protocol (TCP) connections are established between a TLS routing agent and a consumer secure edge protection proxy (cSEPP) and a producer secure edge protection proxy (pSEPP). The TLS routing agent transparently routes subsequent TLS handshake and HTTP/2 application messages to the pSEPP to maintain end-to-end TLS security. Also, the TLS routing agent allows a message firewall to protect a mobile operator SEPP.
