Abstract Provided is an aerosol generating device which comprises: a heater that generates an aerosol by heating an aerosol generating material; an immersion detection module that generates an immersion signal by being electrically shorted as it comes in contact with a liquid inputted from the outside of the aerosol generating device or a liquid leaked from the inside of the aerosol generating device; and a control circuit for determining whether the immersion signal indicating an electrical short circuit has been received from the immersion detection module and performing control to deactivate a heating operation of the heater when it is determined that the immersion signal has been received. 에어로졸 생성 물질을 가열함으로써 에어로졸을 생성하는 히터, 에어로졸 생성 장치의 외부로부터 유입된 액체 또는 에어로졸 생성 장치의 내부로부터 누출된 액체와 접촉됨에 따라 전기적으로 단락(short)됨으로써 침수 신호를 생성하는 침수 검출 모듈 및 침수 검출 모듈로부터 전기적 단락을 나타내는 침수 신호가 수신되었는지 여부를 판단하고, 침수 신호가 수신되었다고 판단된 경우 히터의 가열 동작을 비활성화하기 위한 제어를 수행하는 제어 회로를 포함하는, 에어로졸 생성 장치가 제공될 수 있다.
