Abstract A compact directional acoustic sensor having an improved signal-to-noise ratio is disclosed. The disclosed directional acoustic sensor includes: first and second sensing devices having different output gains depending on input directions of external energy; and at least one signal processor. The first and second sensing devices generate at least one first output signal and at least one second output signal having mutually different polarities for the same input direction. The at least one signal processor generates at least one final output signal by subtraction between the at least one first output signal and the at least one second output signal. 신호 대 잡음비를 향상시킬 수 있는 소형의 지향성 음향 센서가 개시된다. 개시된 지향성 음향 센서는 외부 에너지의 입력 방향에 따라 다른 출력 이득(output gain)을 가지는 제1 및 제2 센싱 소자와, 적어도 하나의 신호 처리기를 포함한다. 상기 제1 및 제2 센싱 소자는 같은 입력 방향에 대하여 서로 다른 극성의 적어도 하나의 제1 출력 신호 및 적어도 하나의 제2 출력 신호를 생성한다. 그리고, 상기 적어도 하나의 신호 처리기는 적어도 하나의 제1 출력 신호와 적어도 하나의 제2 출력 신호를 차분하여 적어도 하나의 최종 출력 신호를 생성한다.
