Summary:An objective of the present invention is to secure the required illuminance characteristics while suppressing the deterioration. A metal halide lamp of an embodiment of the present invention includes a light emitting tube and an electrode. The light emitting tube contains noble gases, mercury, iron, thallium iodide, and magnesium iodide. The electrode is installed inside the light emitting tube. The encapsulation amount A [mg] of thallium iodide and the encapsulation amount B [mg] of magnesium iodide satisfy the relationship of 2.00<=A/B<=3.33. 본 발명은 열화를 억제하면서 필요로 하는 조도 특성을 확보하는 것으로, 실시 형태의 메탈할라이드 램프는 발광관과 전극을 구비하고, 발광관에는 희가스, 수은, 철, 요오드화탈륨 및 요오드화마그네슘이 봉입되어 있으며, 전극은 발광관의 내부에 설치되고, 요오드화탈륨의 봉입량 A[㎎] 및 요오드화마그네슘의 봉입량 B[㎎]는 2.00≤A/B≤3.33의 관계를 만족한다.
