Summary:The present invention relates to a method to operate a low pressure pump included in a fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine comprising a high pressure system including a high pressure pump, wherein fuel is supplied to a high pressure pump through the low pressure pump included in the low pressure system, thereby reducing energy consumption. According to the present invention, the low pressure pump is operated in a first operation mode (B_1) wherein the low pressure pump is operated by a pressure adjusted in consideration of a target value with respect to a supply pressure of the high pressure pump, and is operated in a second operation mode (B_2) wherein the low pressure pump is operated by a flow rate controlled in consideration of the amount of fuel required for the high and lower pressure systems. In this case, the first mode (B_1) or the second mode (B_2) is used in accordance with one or more operation parameters (L, n) of the fuel supply system. 본 발명은, 저압 시스템 내에 있는 저압 펌프를 통해 고압 펌프에 연료가 공급되는, 고압 펌프를 포함하는 고압 시스템을 구비한 내연 기관의 연료 공급 시스템 내에 있는 저압 펌프를 작동하는 방법에 관한 것으로, 상기 저압 펌프는, 저압 펌프가 고압 펌프의 공급 압력에 대한 목표값의 고려하에 압력 조절되어 작동되는 제1 작동 모드(B)로 작동될 수 있으며; 상기 저압 펌프는, 저압 펌프가 고압 시스템 및 저압 시스템에서 필요한 연료량의 고려하에 유량 제어되어 작동되는 제2 작동 모드(B)로 작동될 수 있으며; 이 경우, 연료 공급 시스템의 하나 이상의 작동 파라미터(L, n)에 따라 제1 작동 모드(B) 또는 제2 작동 모드(B)가 사용된다.
