Abstract The present invention relates to a lens system, and an optical apparatus including the lens system. The lens system comprises: a second lens group having a positive refractive power from an object side to an image side along an optical axis; and a first lens group having an aperture stop and a positive refractive power. The second lens group comprises: a meniscus-type first lens having a convex surface toward the object side; a cemented lens consisting of a biconvex second lens and a biconcave third lens; and a cemented lens consisting of a biconvex fourth lens and a biconcave fifth lens. The first lens group comprises: a meniscus-type sixth lens having a convex surface toward the object side; a biconvex seventh lens; a cemented lens consisting of a biconvex eighth lens and a biconcave ninth lens; and a cemented lens consisting of a meniscus-type tenth lens having a convex surface toward the object side and a biconvex eleventh lens.
