| Abstract | A protection switching management apparatus and method for using resources economically in a multilayer or multiple domains are disclosed. The protection switching management method includes a step of receiving an adaptation request from a network element included in an upper layer; a step of determining whether the protection switching of a corresponding layer is applied based on the received adaptation request; and a step of setting a protection path in the corresponding layer based on whether the determined protection switching is applied.
