Abstract A wearable device and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The wearable device according to the present invention comprises: a distance sensor unit which outputs a first signal for determining a distance between a user and the wearable device, while the user is wearing the wearable device, and receives the first signal reflected from the user; a biometric sensor unit for outputting a second signal for determining the user′s biometric information, and receiving the second signal reflected from the user; and a control unit which determines the distance based on the received first signal, and determines the user′s biometric information based on the received second signal, wherein the control unit may control the biometric sensor unit to output the second signal, when the determined distance is less than or equal to a reference distance. 웨어러블 디바이스 및 그 제어 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 웨어러블 디바이스는, 상기 웨어러블 디바이스가 사용자에게 착용된 상태에서, 상기 사용자와 상기 웨어러블 디바이스 사이의 거리를 판단하기 위한 제1 신호를 출력하고, 상기 사용자로부터 반사되는 상기 제1 신호를 수신하는 거리 센서부, 상기 사용자의 생체 정보를 판단하기 위한 제2 신호를 출력하고, 상기 사용자로부터 반사되는 상기 제2 신호를 수신하는 생체 센서부 및 상기 수신된 제1 신호를 기초로 상기 거리를 판단하고, 상기 수신된 상기 제2 신호를 기초로 상기 사용자의 생체 정보를 판단하는 제어부를 포함하고, 상기 제어부는, 상기 판단된 거리가 기준 거리 이하인 경우에 상기 생체 센서부가 상기 제2 신호를 출력하도록 제어할 수 있다.
