Abstract | A wearable device and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The wearable device according to the present invention comprises: a distance sensor unit which outputs a first signal for determining a distance between a user and the wearable device, while the user is wearing the wearable device, and receives the first signal reflected from the user; a biometric sensor unit for outputting a second signal for determining the user′s biometric information, and receiving the second signal reflected from the user; and a control unit which determines the distance based on the received first signal, and determines the user′s biometric information based on the received second signal, wherein the control unit may control the biometric sensor unit to output the second signal, when the determined distance is less than or equal to a reference distance.
