Abstract The present invention provides a chromatography carrier capable of being used under a condition advantageous for scale-up refinement and freely adjusting separation properties, and to a method for refining a virus-similar particle (VLP) of hepatitis B virus. To solve a problem, a porous cellulose particle having an amino group-containing ion exchange group and a butyl group-containing hydrophobic group is used as a chromatography carrier, in which a nitrogen atom content in the porous cellulose particle is 1 -10 mg/g. 본 발명은, 스케일 업 정제에 유리한 조건 하에서 사용할 수 있고, 또한 분리 특성을 자유롭게 조절할 수 있는 크로마토그래피 담체 및 B형 간염 바이러스(HBV)의 바이러스 유사 입자(VLP)의 정제 방법을 제공하는 것을 과제로 한다. 상기 과제를 해결하기 위하여, 본 발명에서는, 아미노기를 포함하는 이온 교환기와 부틸기를 포함하는 소수성기를 가지는 다공성 셀룰로오스 입자로서, 다공성 셀룰로오스 입자 중의 질소 원자 함유량이 1 mg/g∼10 mg/g의 범위인 다공성 셀룰로오스 입자를 크로마토그래피 담체로서 사용한다.
