Abstract | The present invention relates to carbon nanotube fibers with high strength and a method for producing the same. The method for producing carbon nanotube fibers includes the steps of: providing carbon nanotube fibers with tensile strength greater than 5 GPa and producing precursors of the carbon nanotube fibers consisting of carbon nanotubes; uniformly dispersing a cross-linking agent on the precursors of the carbon nanotube fibers; and obtaining the carbon nanotube fibers by thermally treating the precursors of the carbon nanotube fibers on which the crsss-linking agent is uniformly dispersed. The obtained carbon nanotube fibers are in a state that walls of the carbon nanotubes are cross-linked to each other.
