Summary:The present invention relates to a reader structure including a sensor wherein a part of a free layer has cross-track easy axis anisotropy. The reader structure of the present invention comprises: a sensor stack wherein a free layer (FL) has cross-track easy axis anisotropy; and a plurality of permanent magnets (PMs) disposed around the sensor stack in a cross-track direction. The PMs generate a static magnetic bias on the FL.
