The present invention relates to a technology applicable to various kinds of wearable devices and, more specifically, to a wearable device to perform pairing and data communication with a display device and provide one or more pieces of content based on the data communication and a control method thereof. A wearable device includes: a network interface which performs data communication with one or more display devices; a sensor which senses the position data of the wearable device and the viewing direction of a user who uses the wearable device; a controller which controls the operation of the wearable device based on the data sensed by the sensor; and a display module which outputs one or more pieces of content according to commands from the controller. The controller controls the network interface to perform pairing and data communication with the display device which outputs first content and detects the position data of the wearable device using the sensor. The position data includes first position data about where the wearable device is placed in the predefined view angle area of the paired display device and second position data about where the wearable device is not placed in the predefined view angle area of the paired display device. Based on the detected position data of the wearable device, the first content being outputted by the display device is outputted through the display module of the wearable device.
