Summary: | An alkyd surfactant which is effective in emulsifying an alkyd resin is formed by copolymerization of at least one monomer having a hydrophilic group, at least one ethylenically unsaturated fatty acid or ester, and randomly, at least one polyol, and has a low degree of branching. Stable alkyd emulsion is produced by emulsification of the alkyd resin by the alkyd surfactant. Since the alkyd surfactant has an ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic material group which may react with the alkyd resin during hardening, the alkyd surfactant is not subject to migration, blooming or leaching from a hardened coating. |
