PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a controlling method thereof are provided to conveniently edit or insert additional information into multimedia contents. CONSTITUTION: A control unit (180) obtains an image and additional information about the image. The control unit converts the obtained additional information into a digital code which is optically readable. The control unit controls a memory (160) in order to relate and store the digital code with the image. The control unit controls the memory in order to store as one file by replacing one area of the image with the digital code. The control unit determines one area which is replaced on the image according to a command input through a user input unit (130).
