Abstract | PURPOSE: A touch screen and a method for controlling the touch screen are provided to improve touch sensitivity for proximity touch sensing, as maintaining touch resolution for the contact touch, by sensing all of proximity touch and contact touch with a touch sensor. CONSTITUTION: A touch part (110) comprises touch sensors for touch sensing, and operates in a first mode to sense proximity touch or a second mode to sense contact touch. A control part (140) switches the touch part with the first mode and the second mode periodically, and selects touch pressure received through the touch part on the basis of a capacitance pattern acquired through the touch sensors as touch pressure by the proximity touch or touch pressure by the contact touch.
