PURPOSE: A wave power generator equipped with a hydraulic power conversion apparatus and a power conversion method using the same are provided to control the power conversion apparatus in order to synchronize a floating body with given waves, thereby improving energy conversion efficiency for a wave power generating system. CONSTITUTION: A wave power generator(100) includes floating bodies(110,115), a coupling hinge(120), a hydraulic cylinder(130), a pressure accumulator, a hydraulic motor, a generator, and a controller. The floating bodies are rotatably coupled to the coupling hinge. The hydraulic cylinder installed between the floating bodies pressurizes hydraulic fluid with the vibrations of the floating bodies. The pressure accumulator levels the pressure of the hydraulic fluid which is pressurized by the hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic motor is actuated by the leveled hydraulic fluid. The generator generates power with the hydraulic motor. The controller measures the periods and the heights of waves, and then calculates the optimal pressure of the pressure accumulator and the optimal flow rate of the hydraulic motor. The controller controls the pressure of the pressure accumulator and the flow rate of the hydraulic motor. [Reference numerals] (200) Power converting device; (300) Control device
