Summary:PURPOSE: An apparatus and a test method thereof are provided to prevent overvoltage by connecting a connection unit to a varistor through a line. CONSTITUTION: A varistor(5) is connected to the high voltage potential of a circuit device(2) by a first connection unit(7). A second connection unit is connected to a ground through a second line(30). An additional impedance(17) is connected between the second connection unit and the ground. The additional impedance is connected between the first connection unit and a high voltage. A first line(10) and the second line are blocked by a switching device(11) for testing a withstand voltage. The additional impedance has impedance higher than the blocked first line and the second line.
