Abstract PURPOSE: A shock absorbing guide rail is provided to effectively prevent serious accidents by primarily and secondarily absorbing impact when collision of vehicles. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorbing guide rail comprises posts(20), multiple horizontal bars(30a), split bars(21), and identification units(32). The posts are vertically installed on the ground. The multiple horizontal bars are horizontally installed in one side of the posts. The split bars are inserted in the posts and are installed at a same interval. The identification units are coupled through first coupling holes formed in one side of the horizontal bars. The identification units have a hemispherical cross section.
