Abstract PURPOSE: A diagnosis of bearing thermal anomalies in an electrical machine is provided to evaluate a trend of a bearing metal temperature to supply an early detection of a bearing malfunction. CONSTITUTION: A diagnosis of bearing thermal anomalies comprises a shaft(14) misalignment identification system. The shaft misalignment identification system comprises first BMT(Bearing Metal Temperature) sensors(26a,26b), second BMT sensors(28a,28b), and an input system and misalignment identification system. A bearing metal temperature decoding value is obtained form the second BMT sensors. The input system obtains operation data including a temperature of a lubricating oil inlet, a speed, and power. The misalignment identification system responds to one sensor between BMT sensors reporting a temperature increase and the other BMT sensor reporting a temperature decrease, thereby generating misalignment warning.
