PURPOSE: An alumina support for silver catalyst, a method for manufacturing the same, and the use of the same are provided to improve the selectivity of silver catalyst in an ethylene oxide manufacturing process based on the catalytic oxidation of ethylene. CONSTITUTION: The specific surface area of an alpha-alumina support is between 0.2 and 2.0m^2/g. The moisture absorption rate of the alpha-alumina support is more than or equal to 30%. The pore volume of the alpha-alumina support is between 0.30 and 0.85 ml/g. The content of potassium compound in the alpha-alumina support is between 0.001 and 2.0% based on the weight of the support. A method for manufacturing the alpha-alumina support includes the following: a mixture is prepared; the mixture is homogeneously mixed and extruded to form a shaped body; the shaped body is dried and incinerated; and a water-based washing process is implemented. The mixture includes trihydrate alpha-alumina, pseudoboehmite, a fluoride mineralizing agent, potassium compound, and alkali-earth heavy metal compound.
