Abstract PURPOSE: Oxidative dehydrogenation aerogel catalyst, a method for preparing propylene from propane using the same are provided to increase the transferring speed of materials by developing mesopores. CONSTITUTION: Platinum, auxiliary metal, alkaline metal or alkaline earth metal, and halogen components are carried in an aerogel carrier. 0.1 to 2.0 weight% of the auxiliary metal is contained in the aerogel carrier. The rate of the alkaline metal or the alkaline earth metal with respect to the surface area of the carrier is between 0.001 and 0.009 weight%/m^2. 0.5 to 2.0 weight% of halogen components with respect to the platinum, the auxiliary metal, and the alkaline metal or the alkaline earth metal is contained.
