Abstract PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device including an optical sensor, a black matrix substrate, and a color filter substrate are provided to drastically increase brightness of the liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device, a black matrix substrate, and a color filter substrate comprise the following units. The first substrate and the second substrate face each other. A liquid crystal is placed between the first substrate and the second substrate. Display elements formed on the surface of the liquid crystal of the first substrate, a short wavelength optical sensor(18W), a red ray optical sensor, and an infrared ray optical sensor. A color filter is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate. A yellow ray optical sensor and a yellow filter are included in the color filter. Blue and green filters, the first and second red filters, and an infrared ray transmitting filter are included in the color filter.
