Summary:A blood dialysis apparatus is provided which can fundamentally eliminate the problem that in priming, air is trapped in a mesh disposed in a vein-side chamber. The blood dialysis apparatus has a controller by which the following steps (A) and are conducted in this order: (A) a step in which a blood pump is reversely rotated at the same rate as the rate of reverse filtration with a third liquid feeder to pass a dialysate through a channel which is part of a loop formed by connecting an artery-side blood line to a vein-side blood line and extends from the joint between a hemodialyzer and the artery-side blood line to a vein-side chamber via the connecting part to thereby prime the channel and the hemodialyzer; and a step in which the rate of reverse rotation of the blood pump is lowered to below the rate of reverse filtration with the third liquid feeder to pass the dialysate through the channel which is the remaining part of the loop, i.e., which extends from the joint between the hemodialyzer and the vein-side blood line to the vein-side chamber, at a flow rate corresponding to the rate obtained by subtracting the rate of reverse rotation of the blood pump from the rate of reverse filtration with the third liquid feeder to thereby prime the channel and the hemodialyzer.
