Abstract This invention provides a sliding component of a compressor that has a high tensile strength, can develop satisfactory durability during operation, can realize "familiarity" in the earliest possible stage, and does not cause seizing during abnormal operation. Sliding components of compressors (17, 23, 24, 26, 39, 60, 96, 310b, 524, 526, 644, 646, 724, 726, 734, 736, 817, 821, 823, 824, 825, 826, 827, 921, and 924)comprise 2.0 to 2.7% by weight of carbon and 1.0 to 3.0% by weight of silicon with the balance consisting of iron containing unavoidable impurities. In this case, graphite is smaller than flake graphite in flake graphite cast iron, and the hardness of at least a part thereof is higher than HRB90 and lower than HRB100.
