Summary:PURPOSE: An international system for automatically measuring a line height, a font size, and a font, and a method thereof are provided to automatically determine font characteristics fit to other display medium and other readable parameter from one language. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a processor, a memory combined with the processor, and a data structure combined with the processor and the memory, and formed to have multiple elements defining the font characteristics. The data structure stores a layout engine(202). The layout engine includes a structure/layout input filter(230) receiving text properties from an application(200), a text engine(250) receiving at least one among the text properties and determining an average width for a cluster of the font, and a read metrics engine(240) receiving the average width and applying an exponential function to the average width.
