Abstract | PURPOSE: A Michelson interferometer and an optical coherence tomography system using the same are provided to enhance the resolution of a system by adding an attenuator to a reference mirror arm of the Michelson interferometer. CONSTITUTION: A Michelson interferometer includes a light source(1), a beam splitter(2), a first optical path unit, a second optical path unit, and a photo detector(5). The beam splitter(2) is used for splitting the beam of the light source(1). The first optical path unit is installed between the beam splitter and a diagnosing sample(4) in order to provide the split beams to the diagnosing sample(4) and transmit the beams reflected from the diagnosing sample to the beam splitter. The second optical path unit is installed between the beam splitter and a reference mirror(3) in order to provide the split beams to the reference mirror(3) and transmit the beams reflected from the reference mirror to the beam splitter. The photo detector(5) is used for detecting the sample and the reflected beams. An attenuator(6) is installed at the second optical path unit in order to attenuate the sensitivity of the beams.
