Summary: | PURPOSE: A combustion chamber of a diesel engine for pre-mixture combustion is provided to prevent the increase of the combustion temperature in the rich area of the air fuel ratio in the diffusion combustion so as to restrict the generation of NOx. CONSTITUTION: In a combustion chamber, a concave part(23) is formed at a bottom of a cylinder head(20) and a convex part(41) at the upper part of a piston(40). When the piston is in a compression stroke, the concave and the convex parts are connected together so that the combustion chamber is divided into a main combustion chamber(31) and an auxiliary combustion chamber(32). When the piston is going up to the top dead center, combustion occurs in the main combustion chamber. When the piston is going down so that the main combustion chamber is communicated with the auxiliary combustion chamber, the combustion gas in the main combustion chamber is transmitted to the auxiliary combustion chamber so that self-ignition occurs in the whole combustion chamber. |
