Summary:PURPOSE: A position determination entity is provided to determine a position of a mobile station more accurately, by enabling the mobile station to transmit position information generated using position identification information transmitted from a position identification information providing apparatus to the position determination entity. CONSTITUTION: A position information system includes a mobile station(300) including a GPS(Global Positioning System) satellite signal receiving part to receive a GPS satellite signal and a position information generation part to generate position information on the basis of the received GPS satellite signal, and also includes a position determination entity(250) transmitting a position information transmission command to the mobile station and determining the position of the mobile station by receiving the position information from the mobile station in response to the position information transmission command. The system includes an information providing apparatus(400) to transmit position identification information to a region, and the position determination entity makes the mobile station transmit the position information generated using the position identification information from the position information providing apparatus when the mobile station can not transmit the position information in response to the position information transmission command, and determines the position of the mobile station by receiving the position information.
