Abstract PURPOSE: A borate fluorescent material and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to form a borate fluorescent material adapted for a plasma display panel by improving a quality of the borate fluorescent material. CONSTITUTION: A mixture is formed by a metal oxide and a lot of borate. The mixture is heated to decompose the borate under the first temperature. The mixture obtained from the heating process is heated to form a fluorescent material under the second temperature. The fluorescent material obtained from the second heating process. The amount of the borate exceeds 10 percents of the desired amount. The metal oxide is formed by an aluminium oxide, an yttrium oxide, a gadolinium oxide, an europium oxide, and their combination. 본 발명은 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널에 사용하기에 적당한 보레이트 형광체, 예를 들어 AlGdBO:Eu 구조의 형광체를 제공한다. 형광체는 단일 상 물질인 것이 바람직하다. 또한 본 발명은 형광체를 제조하는 방법을 제공한다. 상기 방법은 암모늄 옥사이드, 가돌리늄 옥사이드 및 유로퓸 옥사이드 및 붕산과 같은 금속성 산화물의 혼합물을 두가지 상이한 온도에서 가열하는 단계를 포함한다. 혼합물에서 과량의 붕산을 사용하는 것은 단일 상 물질을 제공하게 되고 또한 낮은 온도에서 공정이 완성될 수 있는 제조상의 이점을 제공한다.
