Abstract PURPOSE: A programmable decoder and decoding method using thereof is provided to reduce time of system organization and improve compatibility and simplify structure and easily embody a single chip. CONSTITUTION: The programmable decoder and decoding method using thereof comprises a first storing unit, a mode distinction unit, a counter unit, an address storing unit, a second storing unit, a switching unit, and a compare unit. The first storing unit stores an output signal of central processing unit(CPU). The mode distinction unit determines a program mode and decoding mode by the output from the first storing unit. The counter unit determines number of peripheral device by a control signal of the mode distinction unit. In program mode, the address store unit stores a starting address of peripheral device and the number of peripheral device by the counter. In decoding mode the second storing device stores a real address of peripheral device. The switching unit switches an output signal of CPU to the second storing unit or the address storing unit by the control signal from the mode distinction unit. And the compare unit compares the real address peripheral device with the starting address of peripheral device. 하드웨어적인 구성의 변경없이 소프트웨어적으로 설계하여 시스템구성시 호환성을 향상시키고 단일칩으로 집적화가 가능하도록 한 프로그램 가능한 디코더에 관한 것으로써, 중앙처리장치와 주변장치들간의 통신연결을 위한 디코더에 있어서, 상기 중앙처리장치의 출력신호를 저장하는 제 1 버퍼부와, 상기 제 1 저장부의 출력신호를 입력하여 프로그램모드와 디코딩모드를 판별하는 모드판별부와, 상기 모드판별부의 컨트롤신호에 따라 주변장치의 수를 결정하는 카운터부와, 프로그램모드시 상기 카운터부에 의해 결정된 주변장치들의 시작어드레스와 주변장치의 수를 저장하는 어드레스 저장부와, 디코딩모드시 주변장치의 실제어드레스를 저장하는 제 2 버퍼부와, 상기 모드판별부의 제어신호에 따라 제 2 버퍼부 또는 어드레스 저장부로 중앙처리장치의 출력신호를 스위칭하는 스위칭부와, 상기 제 2 버퍼부로부터 출력되는 주변장치의 실제어드레스와 상기 어드레스 저장부에 저장된 각 주변장치들의 시작어드레스를 비교하는 비교부를 포함하여 구성되는 것을 특징으로 한다.
