Abstract The present invention relates to a system and method of extinguishing a battery pack fire, which supplies cooling air to the internal space of a battery pack provided in a train to extinguish a fire in the battery pack. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the system comprises: a temperature sensor equipped with an infrared sensor array which measures the temperature of battery cells provided in a battery pack to detect whether a fire occurs in the battery pack provided with the plurality of battery cells; a cooling air generation unit generating cooling air to extinguish the fire in the battery pack when the temperature of a specific battery cell measured by the infrared sensor array exceeds a temperature preset in a control device, and supplying the cooling air to the battery pack; and a control unit determining that the fire has occurred in the battery pack when the temperature of the specific battery cell exceeds the preset temperature so that an identification ID and measurement time of the infrared sensor array are received from the temperature sensor, and transmitting a control signal to the cooling air generation unit to generate the cooling air from the cooling air generation unit. 본 발명은 열차에 구비된 배터리팩의 내부공간으로 냉각 공기를 공급하여 배터리팩의 화재를 진압할 수 있는 배터리팩 화재 진압 시스템 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 배터리팩 화재 진압 시스템은, 배터리팩 화재 진압 시스템에 있어서, 배터리팩에 구비된 전지 셀의 온도를 측정하여 복수개의 전지 셀이 구비된 배터리팩의 화재 여부를 감지하는 적외선 센서 어레이가 구비된 온도센서; 상기 적외선 센서 어레이로 측정한 특정 전지 셀의 온도가 상기 온도센서에 구비된 제어장치에 기설정된 온도를 초과할 때 상기 배터리팩의 화재를 진압하기 위한 냉각 공기를 생성한 후 상기 배터리팩에 공급하는 냉각 공기 생성부; 및 상기 특정 전지 셀의 온도가 상기 기설정된 온도를 초과하여 상기 온도센서로부터 상기 적외선 센서 어레이의 식별 ID 및 측정시간을 수신할 때 상기 배터리팩에 화재가 발생한 것으로 판단하며, 상기 냉각 공기 생성부로부터 냉각 공기가 생성되도록 상기 냉각 공기 생성부에 제어신호를 송신하는 제어부;를 포함할 수 있다.
