The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for detecting a blind spot. The apparatus for detecting a blind spot according to an embodiment of the present invention is an apparatus for detecting the blind spot of a commercial vehicle including a trailer. The apparatus includes a radar sensor provided in the commercial vehicle and measuring the length of the trailer and information on the surrounding object of the commercial vehicle; a storage part for storing the measured length of the trailer measured by the radar sensor; a length estimation part for estimating the length of the trailer through the measurement length of the trailer stored in the storage part; and a control part for determining a blind spot of the commercial vehicle and the turning trajectory of the trailer based on the estimated length of the trailer estimated by the length estimation part.
