Abstract An air cleaning system using a ventilation unit is provided to reduce concentration of carbon dioxide by sucking external air into a room, and to sterilize air by installing an ultraviolet lamp on an air inlet. An air cleaning system using a ventilation unit having a frame(10), a heat exchanger(40), and an air cleaning unit. The air cleaning unit has a housing, a filter unit, a damper, and an ultraviolet lamp. The filter unit is installed at an inner center of the housing. The air flowed into the housing passes a surface of the filter unit vertically. A first surface of the housing directing an inlet of an internal air transferring passage is opened and a second surface directing an outlet of the internal air transferring passage is closed. The place between the filter unit and the first surface directing an inlet of an external air transferring passage and the place between the filter unit and the second surface directing an outlet of the external air transferring passage are opened. The damper opening and closing the opened part of a third surface is installed at an outer part of the third surface of the housing to regulate external air flow flowed into the housing. The ultraviolet lamp is installed on an air passage to sterilize air that has been cleaned by the cleaning unit.
